Football brings in fans from all over the world. But for some reason its still strange to see a famous face wearing a football shirt, whether it’s at a game or out and about, minding their own business. So, naturally we thought we’d pick out some of our favourites.
So without further ado, here are fifteen celebs wearing football shirts, for no particular reason whatsoever.
Robert Downey Jr.
• American Actor
• Iron Man and also a lover of Celtic, apparently…
Not sure what’s going on here, but we fully approve of the ‘soccer dad’ look, Robert has achieved. The less is more New Balance shirt for Celtic seems to meet Downey’s taste though. I mean, you can’t go wrong with those famous green hoops now can you. ‘Goooooo Celtics’.
Madonna
• Musician
• Artist and Italia ’90 ‘merch’ collector
It’s no surprise that the Queen of Pop is seen here wearing a World Cup classic. Semplicemente bellissima, Madge.
Snoop Dogg
• Real name: Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr.
• American rapper and media personality
This man knows how to please a crowd. Turn-up wearing the local football teams colours. In this case a tidy Manchester United home shirt complete with massive black chevron to the chest. Job done!
Donatella Versace
• Italian fashion designer and businesswoman
• The mother of fashion
Born in Reggio Di Calabria, Southern Italy – Lover of Inter Milan. The shirt she’s wearing is a modern classic. We can't claim to know that she's prone to wearing it every game day, but she certainly looks the loyal fan here doesn't she.
Spike Lee
• American film director
• Producer, screenwriter, actor, and professor
What can we say? We love Spike. So him in any football shirt is a massive, YES(!) from us. Search ‘Spike in football shirts’ in Google and you’ll find him wearing some absolute gems. You’re welcome.
Drake
• Canadian rapper
• Singer, songwriter, actor, and entrepreneur.
The celeb that single handedly when wearing ‘THAT’ pink Juve shirt, saw its value increase by about 300%. Can’t say we should thank him for that, but it has proven one thing. Cool people wearing stuff does catch on. For very little reason other than… “they’re wearing it so I’ll definitely have their level of creds when I wear it!” … I wonder what Drake thinks about the evolution of the club badge?! Can only imagine the conversation over a few cans of Red Stripe, pre game.
Justin Bieber
• Canadian singer, songwriter
• Bieber was signed to RBMG Records in 2008
He’s gone full-kit-wanker here and you’ve kind of got to respect that. I mean, it is a classy little Umbro number after-all. We can only assume that a family relative returned from a holiday in Merseyside, having stopped-by the Everton club shop in a bit of a panic, and picked out this gem. He seems pretty happy with it – “LOOK AT HIS FACE…. JUST LOOK AT HIS FACE” (extreme Barry Davies voice).
Macaulay Culkin
• American actor, musician, and podcaster
• VH1’s list of the “100 Greatest Kid-Stars
Home Alone star spotted out and about with Paris Jackson, wearing the Hipsters choice of West Ham shirts. The paps thought they’d got a first sighting of matching tattoos. Turns out people didn’t give a fuck about that, (shock) and were more interested in why he was wearing a Hammers shirt. We’ll answer that question for the masses – LOOK AT THE SPONSOR!!!!! Enough said.
Tom Hardy
• English actor
• Producer, Model
Turns up to press bits wearing whatever the fuck he wants, in this case – a chat about his film Venom, wearing that season’s AS Roma home shirt. Let us just say that again… Tom Hardy wearing an AS Roma shirt. That my friends is a baby maker.
Mike Myers
• Canadian-American actor
• Comedian, screenwriter, producer and director
Seen here at Anfield with fellow Reds fan Daniel Craig, embracing Sir Kenny. A genuine Liverpool fan Mike is often seen at Anfield when in the UK. But what is strange is that he does not appeared to have aged one bit since filming the first Waynes World. Very Odd. But him being a big soccer fan has endeared him to everyone here at Cult Kits.
Mike Tyson
• Former professional boxer
• Considered one of the best heavyweight boxers of all time
"The Baddest Man on the Planet", Tyson is considered one of the best heavyweight boxers of all time. He has also been seen several times wearing some absolute classics. But Iron Mike wearing this Scotland home shirt as worn at the 1998 World Cup in France is probably our favourite.
Viggo Mortensen
• American actor
• Author, musician, photographer, poet, and painter
Born in New York to a Danish father and American mother, Viggo is Hollywood royalty. Here he is wearing the Argentinian side, San Lorenzo de Almagro. A fan of the club from having lived in Argentina as a child. You could call him a super fan after he turned up to the Oscars in 2019 wearing a club waistcoat. We’ve got a lot of time for that.
Miley Cyrus
• American singer, songwriter, and actress
• Pop and country pop to hip hop, experimental and rock
Now we can’t say for sure, but we think Miley may well just be the United mega fan we all come to dread meeting at the Pub. Been to Old Trafford once, spent a fortune in the Megastore and now knows everything about everything at the club. She can name all the backroom staff and U21 players breaking through, and waits patiently outside the training ground car park for a signature. Yep, she’s definitely that fan, we reckon, probably?!
Beyoncé
• Singer, songwriter, actress, director, humanitarian, and record producer
• Pop Goddess
Now we know PSG are the celebs choice when it comes to obligatory shots on insta – but this is another level. Always out front and never to be seen following, Beyonce stepped out in her own especially customised PSG nike away shirt, when she visited the French capital. Football shirt fans went crazy, begged Nike and PSG to release replicas, demanding they’d pay any number to get their hands on one. It hasn’t happed yet. We hope it doesn’t – PSG and Nike do not need anymore money. The shirt and its custom design add-ons are superb though.
