Known for her contemporary yet timeless aesthetic, Carlota presents the brand’s new Spring Summer 2022 collection, where the relaxed atmosphere of 70s football and the brand's natural magnetism and timeless elegance meet in a common ground.
For the launch at London Fashion Week Carlota Barrera has teamed up with New Balance Football and its clubs AS Roma, LOCS Lille, FC Porto and Athletic Club, whose 21/22 kits are featured throughout the looks of the digital show.
Carlota Barrera introduces in her collection new essential pieces such as two-colour knitted polo shirts, T-shirts with messages inspired by homemade Word Art posters, shirts with spray-effect stripes and technical tailoring and outerwear. The reinvented, contemporary and timeless tailoring reappears in shades of green, off white and black with fluid trousers with vertical stripes appearing throughout the show.
With this collection Carlota Barrera continues to strengthen the brand's message, deeply focused on challenging stereotypes and working on exploring gender identities in constant evolution. The collection pushes to get rid of rigid codes and claims team play, celebrating the creation of communities based on trust and inclusion in all senses.
There has always been a clear link between football, fashion and culture, being a sport that historically began focused on conventional values and in recent years has reinvented itself and experiences constant evolution. Today, football is no longer just a sport. It is now art, fashion and design, all encompassed in a lifestyle that manages to reach a new consumer and, above all, to be closer to new and upcoming generations.
New Balance makes football more than a sport and crosses borders to find other parallel playing fields. In addition, the brand has a unique voice that demonstrates a true sense of community and social responsibility.
The brand works with each Club on the development of their unique kits to truly reflect their own heritage in sport and their desire to innovate and bring freshness to the bespoke designs. It draws on the roots and timeless style of the Clubs showing a balanced blend of heritage and innovation.
Carlota Barrera & New Balance Football are the perfect combination of fashion and functionality. Classic approach to new techniques, technology and an innovative vision of the traditional. Both reinterpret the past to make it relevant and contemporary in the present and the future. Both brands merge style, well-being, inclusivity and social awareness.
“As a brand with a very personal perspective, we share our approach (not just formal, but also emotional) to modern sportswear and our vision for how sports can create and nurture communities. We have worked together with New Balance to present a new vision of football, aligned with the contemporary values and the changing realities of today. We believe that all industries are moving towards a brighter and more inclusive future, and we want to not only be part of the change, but also accelerate it.”

The show was held and filmed in a Boys School in East London, a Victorian school built in 1865 which retains all its original external features and many original internal features. With the school as a background, a young football community comes together after some time apart, remembering old times and celebrating friendship, brotherhood and athleticism.
Carlota Barrera continues to work with their creative team for this digital show, working closely with ANCC Studio for Art Direction and Littledoom Studio for music, with a short monologue written by Carlota Barrera & Matthew A. Navarro.
