It's an undisputed fact: teams that wear green are cool. Celtic, Betis, Palmeiras, Saint Etirenne, Sassuolo... and of course, German giants Werder Bremen.
Located on the banks of the River Weser, Bremen are club with a very special history. They were one of the founding members of the Bundesliga and share the record (with a certain team from Munich) for most seasons played in the top flight.
This year marks the club's 125th birthday, having been formed by a group of teenage friends in 1899 in the Kuhhirte - a restaurant in the city.
To celebrate the milestone, Werder and shirt supplier Hummel have released a special kit under the tagline 'United Through History'. The club will wear the shirt - which features their original crest as an all-over print - on 10 February in their match against Heidenheim.
It's bottle green and extremely easy on the eye.
A celebration marking Werder's founding took place at the Kuhhirte recently, featuring former and current players of the club - as well as the special edition shirt.
Werder legends Hans Schulz, Thomas Schaaf, Marco Bode, Frank Baumann, Dieter Eilts, Ailton, Mirko Votava and Nelson Valdez returned to mark the occasion and were joined by members of the current squad, including Marco Friedl, Marvin Ducksch, Jens Stage and Lina Hausicke.
A fitting way to celebrate the proud history of one of German football's great heritage clubs.
