A.S. VELASCA LAUNCH NEW CLUB SHIRTS DESIGNED BY KENDELL GEERS

A.S. VELASCA LAUNCH NEW CLUB SHIRTS DESIGNED BY KENDELL GEERS

Beautiful but fragile as flowers... South African artist Kendell Geers designs A.S. Velasca's new club shirts. An authentic football club known for it's experimental jerseys, these designs don't to disappoint.

A shirt covered in flowers, it's a bold move. But one Velasca is more than willing to make. For the artist, the flowers represent the fragility of the soul, the petals its beauty. But as the artist depicts in this design – the more flowers, the stronger the roots.

Available now from the club's website in a limited and numbered edition.

To mark the launch, the club caused a bit of a stir amongst fans, with a lucky few invited to wear the jerseys and be photographed in them on a Milanese riverboat.

This was followed by a presentation of 2 sweatshirts, made by artists from all around the world, that were hung up waiting to be distributed to the Velasca players in attendance. Once the players had grabbed their shirts, they embarked on a run along the quay as a team. Cracking!

As the players arrived at bridge along the quay they were greeted by rower Filippo Moscatelli. Masked with a visor megaphone for the coach and dressed in the home jersey for the goalkeeper, it was the days icing on the cake. The design Filippo wore – worthy of legends such as Jorge Campos.

The collaboration with Kendell Geers continues the clubs commitment to building bridges with South Africa. The Milan club is making the return leg with Soweto Stars F.C. (the SA club the have previously twinned with) a top priority for the season ahead.
