Manchester United are doing all they can to forget about this season. So to get the ball rolling so to speak, adidas have launched their 2019/20 home shirt.
The shirt celebrates the 20th anniversary of their famous 1999 treble winning season, with an all-new crest design, that pays direct homage to that famous Champions League final win.
The kit itself will be worn for the first time at a Legends charity match against Bayern Munich, with the game itself will mark the 20 year anniversary of winning the European trophy.
Everyone knows the story of that season – from winning the domestic league trophy, the FA Cup and then finally a spine-tingling last gasp equaliser and then winner at the Camp Nou, Barcelona.
The commemorative crest complemented with gold stitching references the shirt worn in that magical season for the Red Devils.
An all new commemorative crest design of bold black with gold stitching takes inspiration from the one worn that season, and white shorts and black socks complete the kit.
The keeper jersey has a bold tiger pattern throughout, emphasising the reemergence of in-your-face 90’s acid-tripping patterns.
For us, the home shirt, is for now at least, simply a grower. Not too many bars pushed here BUT… depending on their performance in the 19/20 season – could prove historic.
Yes, unlikely we know!
